In many low and middle-income countries, trends in tobacco, alcohol, and illicit substance use, especially among youth, have paralleled the rapid social changes experienced in these countries in recent years. This book presents different perspectives on urbanization and substance use among young people by experts from eight countries and the results of a brief multi-national survey. The book provides much needed information on the role of urbanization on substance use and enhances our knowledge of how to intervene to reduce the health and social harm caused by this phenomenon.
