In this workshop, Dr. Albano explains how adolescent development can impact the development and maintenance of anxiety disorders. She begins by describing the typical developmental progression of anxiety and fear from preschool to adolescence, along with risk factors for developing an anxiety disorder. Dr. Albano also describes ways that clinicians can create developmentally sensitive approaches to the treatment of anxiety disorders for adolescents using a cognitive-behavioral framework. She also describes the important role of parents in the treatment of anxiety symptoms. Throughout this workshop she demonstrates techniques through case examples and role-plays.
